During about 5 minutes of activity on StampSmarter.org tonight, no ads were seen (ordinary nor offensive). I am very pleased with the results so far. Thank you Mike and team.

Also happy to hear that you still own both the .org and .com addresses.

Keep up the good work, thank you for the quick response.

Thanks for the status update on your visit to Stamp Smarter.

To reply to your quote. To the best of my knowledge, Don never used paid advertising to support Stamp Smarter. All expenses for the site were covered out of Don's pockets, along with contributions from a small but dedicated group of supporters.

I had the same.problem occur on my swedishtiger website last year. To prevent reoccurance there are relatively inexpensive services that can protect your server.

That is my understanding as well. In fact he promoted this as such on some of the screens.

I noticed the ads also but found a way to the website that looked safe---can't remember how I got there.

Has this still not been corrected, it seems a pity that all the hard work the original creator put into this site is being ruined by some hackers.

I tried to use the Color Extract tool https://stampsmarter.org/features/C...Extract.html and every time I click on the File browse button, all I get are ads, some of them pornographic. I tried on both my computer and phone - same results.

Is there anyone still managing this site?
Thanks,
Allen

Hopefully to assist in any investigations. I do not see any problems reported by others. I accessed color extract etc without issues.both through .org and .com addresses. Site is fast and clean. I use edge and chrome on windows 11.

StampAllen:

1. Yes, the site is monitored and under the control of the Stamp Smarter Foundation.

2. You can ALWAYS contact Stamp Smarter about problems and issues or questions via the CONTACT button on the Stamp Smarter Home Page. It does not come directly to me at this time, but I will get it eventually and I can communicate with you directly once I have your email.

For others on SCF with 50 posts, you can also report issues directly to me via a PM here.

3. Information about the website and the Stamp Smarter Foundation activities and status is being reported in the following thread:

https://goscf.com/t/86402&whichpage=3#805095

4. I just went to the page you cited, and it works correctly for me, using Windows 11 and Chrome. I see no pop-up ads like you describe, but I did see them several weeks ago when the original problem was reported and corrected.

Have you done a refresh on your browser for this page? When the original "hack" occurred, we found the "bad code" in several different pages. You may still have one of the original bad pages in your browser cache.

5. Please make a screen shot of what appears on your screen when you go to this page. It would be helpful if you were to identify your system configuration.

6. The webpage URL Link you gave, or at least how it was entered into your original post, gives an error, and does not go to the expected page. I don't know if this is a spelling error in your original post, or a forum issue. It should have gone to the page and displayed the following URL in your browser window.

For some reason, even when I try to insert this URL string in this post, it does not work correctly. I get the same results that I did with the link in your initial post.

However, links to other pages in this Color Extract feature work correctly in this post...

https://stampsmarter.org/features/H...eatures.html

https://stampsmarter.org/features/C..._Images.html

[NOTE: I am puzzled at this behavior!!]

We are dedicated to keep Stamp Smarter functioning and operating in a safe environment. We request anyone who discovers a problem to report it as soon as possible and with as much detail as possible. We are not nearly as familiar with the overall website as Don was, but we will work to resolve every problem reported.

Chesham85:

Thank you for your report. It arrived as I was compiling my response. I always love to get independent confirmation (pro and CON) to any reports of problems.

It's possible that some are using browsers that, by default, block certain types of malicious code. If reporting an issue, please try to include what browser you are using.

I am not sure why the link I posted does not work, it seems to be something that the forum has done to it.
If I click on the link directly that I posted then it doesn't work, but if I copy and paste the part of the link after the "target=" directly into the browser bar, then it does go to the correct page.

I am using Safari on Mac OS 10 Catalina. I have the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy phone.
