While doing some research on my pre 1900 Hawaii covers, I came across an advertisement, specifically to stamp collectors who collect Hawaii stamps.
From the January 1, 1889 issue of the Hawaiian Gazette. Thought it was interesting and entertaining. 135 year old advertisement!
If you can find another stamp collecting advertisement older than this, show me!

That's pretty neat, even more so with Hawaiian material.

I know that there are and have been people who have specialized in collecting material related to the history of stamp collecting. Dealer cachets, early albums, ephemera, etc. It is certainly interesting in itself.

The first advertising for Hawaiian stamps was done in various church bulletins around the Islands by Christ Church of Kealakekua, on the Big Island .

That dealer card is great, I'll have to keep an eye out for those. I'm an archaeologist and historian and do a good bit of newspaper scanning when writing up reports...I've run across newspaper ads related to stamp collecting as early as the 1850s. It became a huge hobby quite quickly.
