I came across an Australian country song about the determination of a mail man to get the mail through to various parts of NSW in the early 1900's. The first version of the song has some interesting photos and postcards. The name of the song is Darkie Grant The Mailman sung by Grahame Jackson and Jayne Kelly.

The second version is by Stan Coster.

I know there have been topics about letters etc in songs but I thought how many songs are there about the life of a single postman. If you know of any, please add them.

Hi Bobby,
I liked the photos in the first version. It would have been fascinating to see the stamps and letters that were being transported all those years ago. Would tempt me to become a bushranger. I also like country music.

I've got a couple of Manilla items in a box somewhere. I'll dig them out tomorrow and post them here.

I'm a fan of traditional country from the 1920s & 1930s but there's some later stuff I like too

Nice cover and postcard. I'm sure some 1920s and 1930s country music would have echoed around the walls of the Royal Hotel shown in your postcard.
