I have came across a 1932, SG# 29, S.Rhodesia stamp with a green line close to the frame. Is this a considered to be a variety at all?
I didn't found information about this feature at Stanley Gibbons catalog.

This is a natural line used in printing . It will appear in ALL the sheets of that stamp same position on each sheet printed .It tells the press man that the green printing plate is lined up ,it is lined up to the other colors of the stamp.

Did all printers use this system to line up the colours?

Why wouldn't they place these registration marks on the selvedge ?

You will also find these lines on mono-coloured stamps.

If you find such a line on the QE2 'Castles' of the 1950s, you know they were printed by Waterlow. In that case, they served to align the perforator.
De La Rue had crosses in the margin that served to identify the left and right panes.

Thank you all for the clarification, now I will know that this is just part of the printing.
