Hi looking for your advice on getting decent pictures and how do I get the watermark to appear? i've tried holding the stamp up to light but couldn't see. I'd dare not use any chemicals on it to see doesn't that wash out some color?

Use a scanner. A lot of watermarks, especially in used stamps, show when scanned against a black background.

If you take pictures, stabilise the camera: use a tripod. If you use a phone, make a stack from books or boxes with a flat surface. Lay your phone on top of the stack and take the picture. Make sure the picture is in focus.

Watermark fluids such as Clarity do not damage stamps.

You can use something like a Sherlock Watermark detector to detect and photograph watermarks.

Angore, I am curious as to whether you have an opinion regarding Sherlock vs. Signoscope?
