I just opened the Philatelic Store of USPS. They have listed for July an Alex Trebec sheet of 20 78c stamp. Are we being PUNKED?

Is that a projected future rate?

The new First Class "Forever" rate is 73 cents starting July 14th. The Alex Trebek stamp comes out July 22nd (his birthday).

I love the design. It will probably be voted one of the worst stamp designs of 2024, but it made me smile.

definitely ending the collection with December 2024 issues & will use resources for missing classics or 'hole' filling of modern issues.

Clever idea for a stamp and well-deserved recognition for Alex Trebek. I like it.

Welcome to the club! Four years ago, I stopped collecting modern U.S. and began filling a few holes. While I've only managed to fill a few (less than a handful), I have replaced quite a few eyesores (album weeds) with better stamps.

I am 72. Was a mail and show dealer starting in 1980. Partially owned and was retail manager of a brick and mortar shop from 1990 - 2017 when we closed, mainly due to our shop customers dying off. Literally.
I wished I had a quarter for ever time someone complained that the US was issuing too many stamps for the last 40 years, lol.

Every collector of U.S. stamps is going to have stamps they love and stamps they hate, for reasons that are ethical, political, or artistic. It comes with the territory. No one is going to like everything.

Guess I'll use them to mail letters and if I get one back on a letter, that's fine. But the new rate is 73 cents - I might have to cut back one my pen-pals. As for too many new stamps? One would think that the post office could make more money by catering more to collectors by issuing fewer stamps thus allowing casual collectors to afford to get full year sets mint and still have some money left over to buy a burger and fries.

I'll buy a pane, if only to use the stamps on mail to my dad, who's a huge fan of Jeopardy.

If it was ever 78 cents, it isn't now. They are regular 73 c stamps
