Can anybody tell me what plate numbers were used to print U.S. #2609c (the indigo blue variety of the 29 cent Flag over Whitehouse stamp) ?

The Plate Number Coil Collectors Club Values List, 8th edition, lists only plate number 7 for this variety. |

Scott and PNC3 are incomplete on the subject. There are several different dark shades (and exactly what color name which one is called by is controversial), but more than #7 was printed inn other than pure blue, however #7 is most common. I'm going by memory as I don't know where my notes on this are, but I think the complete list is 6, 8, 8 & 10. |

Thanks for your replies, guys. I have a Plate #6 strip of three that looks closer to black than blue is why I was asking. Would it be worthwhile to get it certified? |

Rich Nazar wrote a great article "What Color is the White House?" that was published in the March 2013 issue of The United States Specialist. The article discusses the indigo, navy blue, Chicago blue, and light blue varieties. You can probably find it somewhere online. Hope this helps. |

Robert, I was doing some work on my own PNC collection and pulled up the article about five times - each time worked OK!

I can't get to the Nazar article or usastamps.com on my PC with Chrome or MS Edge, but I can pull it up on my tablet with Safari. |

Maybe if you go straight to www.usastamps.com ? It will show a list of all his articles, and you want the one: "What color is the White House" Well, this does not work for me, but the link above still works fine, Peter |
