Hi all Anyone have any idea on the value of this flaw. Its a mini sheet of the 1965 health stamp (fantail) the colour shift is the brown or green from the leaves and the bottom of the stamp. All stamps on the minisheet have the colour shift. Thanks Darren lutzke

Most likely not worth a whole lot. If the color(s) misregistration is minor it is fairly normal

Hi Peter Thank you for your reply. In researching I found this page for nz errors/flaws similar to the one I have and even if the color shift is off 2mm, for what I can gather the individual stamp can sell for 100 - 350. Thought I would post the site address for your interest, quite interesting https://www.sergent.com.au/stamps/n...rscomms.html |

I didn't see your particular color registration shift on that website, but even if I did, the value is only what someone is willing to pay. Your shift, in my opinion, is extremely small, and only a curiosity with little additional, if any, value. Keep searching. |

You are correct there is no color registration for that stamp, as I stated on my last post "similar" my stamp with a shift colour of about 3mm is the same as others listed on the site I understand value is only what someone will pay for .... thanks for your opinions I appreciate them |

Fairly normal????? I have over 5000 stamps and this is the only one that has a color shift, thats not fairly normal.
Please entertain me how many "fairly normal" color shift stamps have u got compared to how many stamps u have ???
Im thinking like 40% at least if its "fairly normal"

Wow! I looked at your sergent site. There is a 3 cent stamp, celebrating 100 years of New Zealand law society. If you look at that stamp, there are five pictures of this stamp, each with a color shift. When they started printing multi-color stamps using a different plate for each color, color shifts are very hard not to occur. Maybe NZ stamps have a more rigorous quality control but US stamps have quite a lot of color shifts Oh, and by the way, a 2 or 3mm color shift is quite noticeable, and will bring a little more, depending on the size of the shift.

My comment would be minor color shifts are fairly normal. Major color shifts are less normal but do occur. I would keep copies of minor and major color shifts, but with no expectation of anything over a 2-3x value increase. |

Harrison and Sons photogravure stamps (that is all they did) from this era are notorious for misregistration of colours. There is no reason this should be any less common for New Zealand stamps than for British stamps. |
