I believe I have a Scott 462 1916 1-cent Washington, green stamp on a label/cover, postmarked 1916 only, and would like opinions on whether it might have any value greater than a used stamp. Additional photos can be provided if warranted. Thanks for any input.

I agree your stamp is perf 10, which would make it Scott 424 or 462, depending on watermark. Both are minimum value stamps with standard catalog values less than $1 on cover. Being damaged, there is virtually zero value in the stamp by itself. The only real interest is leaving it on-cover as a piece of postal history, in this case a 3rd class mailing perhaps worth a few bucks to a postal history collector desite its large size. Please do not remove the stamp from the cover.

Thanks...my thoughts as well. The label is from a lithographer who provided sample cigar box labels to cigar manufacturers and I have it in a collection of 3 lithographers' sample labels. I saw that the first documented use of the 462 has been reported to be Oct. 3, 2016. I don't know if that is true, and I don't suppose there is a way to more accurately date the use of this one. Anyway, it will be kept intact and be part of more than one bit of historical interest. Thanks again.

Oops...habit.

"1916" was what I intended to write.

American lithograph also printed a lot of trading cards that went into cigarette packs in the 1909-12 period and maybe a bit beyond.
Some baseball card collectors would be interested, perhaps marginally more than it's value to most stamp collectors.
