I have acquired an old 2 cent US pony express stamp with a grid. It has a small piece of narrow white tape on the back that was somehow used as a hinge. This tape is of a type that I have seen in old stamp albums before. Is there an easy way to remove it? It covers part of the g id. Or I can leave it. Is it safe to soak these old stamps in water? Thank you for advise.
Some old-time collections used selvage to hold stamps in place. Those can be soaked off. BUT we would need a picture/scan to advise you better. (Front and Back)
