I found an untagged 2115 plate number #2 PNC5 in a pile of bulk postage.

I checked StampSmarter and saw this entry:

2115e 22˘ Flag over Capitol Tagging Omitted E S

But the webpage for this entry is not loading, and there doesn't seem to be a photo. Does anyone have any additional information about untagged 2115?

That's a tough one. I can clearly see residual tagging (outlining the tagging rectangle) on your untagged strip. This goes along with "almost color omitted" errors that are freaks if they show even minor traces of the color supposedly not there.

Yes, it has a couple of flecks on it. But without actual tagging, it's impossible to tell which #2 it is, the very cheap B press or the very expensive D press...

Peter4522, it says "Scott# 2115e Plate # 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12, 16, 18, 20 (Tagging Omitted)" but there are flecks of tagging on mine, so per drkohler it can't be a 2115e?..

FYI, there is no photo on stampsmarter since I didn't have one to photograph.

"But without actual tagging, it's impossible to tell which #2 it is, the very cheap B press or the very expensive D press."
Since it can't be proven to be from the D press it will be treated as if it came from the B press.

"but there are flecks of tagging on mine, so per drkohler it can't be a 2115e?"
NO question, it can't be a 2115e. tagging omitted like color omitted has to be 100% missing.

I'll consider it a freak of 2115 then. Wonder what it would fetch on ebay?
