A nice touch and feeling of Christmas on a Holly-framed Picture Postage stamp from a 2000 46c Picture Postage design booklet.

The personalized picture shown is from the popular November 1972 8c Canada stamp issue, Scott #610, commemorating Cornelius Krieghoff, a painter of rural scenes. Note the squared corners of the addition, indicating a picture from a non-Picture Postage source.

Pictures courtesy of ebay.

A nice Blue Butterfly on a Canada stamp, personal Picture Postage (TM) design, shown on the web page for the Greenwoods Foundation located in the town of Ganges, BC, on Salt Spring Island.

Here's the latest incarnation of the Picture Postage stamp from Bird Bear Press. I went with the white background again, but in a vertical format. As before, these are used as postage for anyone who buys the book, Field Guide to the Cinderella Stamps of Canada, or on ebay stamp sales (bird_bear_press). Only 100 printed, as for the three other previous designs.

Your stamp looks nice. Thanks for sharing.

The vertical design is good.

It works with the given elements of the stamp, the border and the denomination 'P'.

"Premier Envelope"
I discovered this community after googling a mysterious stamp that I couldn't identify with a catalogue which goes up to 2009. I figured out that it's "picture postage". The stamp has "Premier Envelope" with blue background, the design is a picture with two corners tucked into a greyish-white frame. If necessary I will scan it...
but I hope this description will suffice.

Can anyone tell me what year this frame style is from? Is there a Scott number?
Thanks!

Hello Sparkle8, welcome to Stamp Community!

I think you are describing either one or the other of the below versions of Premier Envelope creations of 'Picture Postage' brand of personal or personalized or customized stamps that were available from 2004 to 2012 from the Canadian Bank Note Co. through Canada Post.

They are both numbered by Scott and Unitrade as #2064. Scott describes only the border available, and perhaps whether vertically or horizontally oriented. The personalized designs are not, at this time, catalogued except online by the web site www.picturepostage.net, although no pricing is on there. The two borders are a Photo Album style frame (shown) or a Silver Ribbon style frame.

Some part or department of www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/per...ts/index.jsf">Canada Post Corp. did most likely design and order these as an advertisement or promotion to use their Premier Envelope product but I myself do not think they were issued by www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/per...ts/index.jsf">Canada Post as approved designs or carried by actual Post Offices for sale to the general public.

These picture postage stamps can also be considered to be labels just as Zazzle or others from the USA can be, because the post offices do not consider the designs inside the borders to be the stamp but only the outer border, along with the fluorescent tagging bars around the edges. More like a label than a stamp but a stamp none the less.

There is an debate about these on another thread on SCF also.

People do make a good collection of Picture Postage stamps just by themselves. They can range in price, from 99c up to $30-$40 per stamp from www.ebay.com/b/260/" >ebay sellers through auction alone depending on the design and the collector's choice of subject matter, one of each or just the eye appeal of the design or photo.

I like them and think they portray what Canada and Canadians were going through personally at the time, or felt were pretty or reflective of their own journeys or preferences.

Personal stamps are a worldwide phenomonem and can be found from many major countries and states.

Thanks ccool. I found it in the catalogue for 2004...it came to me with a lot of stamps from 2012 so I figured it must be a new one. I can't believe I spent so much time on one stamp...well, yes I can! This is addictive.

Sorry, I should have said thank you to Puzzler. I was reading a old 2010 post at the top of the list. I'm still figuring out this site.

It's in the Unitrade catalogue as #2064. My guess is that Premier Envelope is not an exciting stamp for Picture Postage collectors, but it fills a gap in my collection.

Re #2064...Unitrade says "The personalized stamps have a '(c)2004' inscription printed in taggant at the upper left corner of the stamp design (inside the 4-sided tagging) visible only with an ultraviolet light."

Hello ccool, welcome again to stamp collecting.

I myself have been slow at Picture Postage as my interest has also moved to POCON (COLOP) cancels and other world wide cancels.

But here is a stamp received today from ebay:

Bad Robot and a large-eared black and white cat. Short cut or perfs cut on left but what a picture!
