Hi all

I have a half Ana 1882 stamp, with a CEF overprint and can't find any similar ones online at least. My research tells me that the CEF overprints started in 1900

I also have an 1883 One Ana stamp. The overprint on this 'Jhind State service' and similarly can't find any examples of this specific stamp with this specific overprint, so wondered if anybody with a little more experience could shed any light?

have a good day, thanks

Please post pictures so people know what you are talking about.

The half anna you describe is as expected for SG C2 (16-08-1900, minor catalogue price).

"JHIND STATE / SERVICE" appears on stamps of King George V. Those of Queen Victoria and King Edward VII exist with "SERVICE" at top and "JHIND / STATE" at bottom. The latter exists on the 1883 one Anna stamp. From your description it sounds incorrect.

I didn't add the images as I do find this site not so user friendly for images from my phone. (Even with the resize tool)
Anyway this is the 1 Anna with 'Jhind State Service' overprint.
I will upload the other for reference a bit later and apologies for the not so great photo as it's still in the album

That is SG O2, July 1885. It is a 'SERVICE' overprint on SG 2 (Convention State) that has 'JHIND STATE' overprint.

You might want to use the image optimiser to resize pictures. But best to scan stamps. The terrible focus of these images is painful to the eyes. If you have a shoebox, use that to stabilise your phone and get better pictures.

Thank you for the info I had thought initially that it was 1883 and yeah I used the macro lens when taking the photo, I think that affected the uploaded image. I will get the hang of it!
