Hello SCF,

I've already made my first post in the "US Cover" forum but encouraged to post here as well. I'm a long-time collector of 19th century baseball cards (Old Judge etc.) that then transitioned to the cigarette packs that helped distribute the cards. I've now branched out to collecting all cigarette brands, the 19th century cigarette tax stamps found on these packs together with the early covers, letters/stationary/invoices, etc. This is where there may be some cross-over interest with the forum.

I currently have issues posting pictures. After following all the rules (.jpeg only, <300kb, <800 pixels in length, etc.) I still cannot post an image. I've requested help through the FAQ (Can't find your answer here? Send us an e-mail.). Anxious to show some of my collection and perhaps locate other like-interest collectors.

I've already found the knowledge on this forum to be quite impressive ! Thank you for having me !

Hi Joe,

Open the "Uploading Photos" Tutorial located in the far left column of your screen.

There you will see "2. Must be under 300K in size. Use our Free Image Optimizer if your image is too large."
Click the blue Free Image Optimizer hyperlink and follow the directions.

The optimizer will convert any size file to the correct size.

Joe G.,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby.

Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ
