Looks like there is a new expertizing service - this is certificate #202413 - the return address on the back of the envelope is Dr. W.T. Chen in Washington DC. I wonder if the certificate number is the first 6 digits of his phone number (Washington DC is area code 202)

The certificate grades the cover extremely fine 90, but the lot description https://www.ebay.com/itm/186759308941 states that the cover is in "reasonable fine" condition but "DO NOT EXPECT PERFECTION"

I think I'll stick with the PF

The Cert# is the 13th cert in 2024. Complete garbage. Not worth wasting any more electrons writing about it.

The Chenster has a number of six figure items for sale with the highest being $800,000. I don't know about you, but I have no problem paying an ebay seller with a yahoo mail address for his "expertizing" service just under a million bananas. No, I am not going to disparage ebay BUT dang, they still look cheesy decades after starting. Made me smile this beautiful pre-election AM!

You guys are just being mean to the Chenster . My guess is he is a few years early .

Something is going to rock the collectible markets ,that hasn't been around since the 1970's But it is coming .Remember we are playing now with a stamp market which on a good day is worth $300 million dollars .to control it . Sounds like a lot of money but it isn't when you start to think about it , remember they transfered out 274 Billion dollar out of California banks in two hours . Plus there are over 20,000 funds ,investment groups or people around the world who can write that $300 million dollar check any time they want to .

Trends change and people get nuts for things like Dutch tulips and bitcoins so why not stamps ......so be kind to the Chenster ,he is just early .

Floortrader - This is exactly what I think will happen. The trend is going to shift and I think people will be shocked. Unlike worthless cryptos, there are stamps, affordable ones that are actually scarce with value to a collector. Once the pyramid scheme crashes in crypto, the money will flow back to traditional hard assets.

The tulip (nothing Dutch about the tulips, it was the bubble that was Dutch) bulb bubble was a phenomenon when the flower was new to a flourishing country. Bitcoin is a relatively new phenomenon.

Stamps have had their bubbles but are ancient compared to the tulips and Bitcoin when those bubbles formed.

Ah, takes me back to reading The Black Tulip in Classics Illustrated (so much better than those big Victorian volumes).

The fully convenient certificate is being created and proffer to make a $5.00 retail cover look as if it may deserve the five figure minimum bid price. As I already noted this is only a three figure item if a decimal point is included between the first and second numbers.

I have this valuable stamp, so I'll use it for postage and mail it to an expertizer.
