I'm a long time numismatist and was gifted a very extensive private collection of L. Rohe Walter, Special Assistant to the Postmaster General from around 1950 to 1960. This collection has numerous first day issue programs (some with autographs). In addition, there are probably hundreds (if not thousands) of "new" not cancelled stamps. I'm here to learn what I can.

TM55709,

Collecting for the enjoyment of collecting, whatever that might be, is the name of the game. Don't hesitate to ask questions especially if you need basic information and especially more advanced sources of information for any possible topic. You should be able to find folks on this board a little further along on their collecting journey glad to share experiences.

My personal bias is a used stamp loses the story of its journey in the postal service when it is removed from the cover it transported to its destination. Collecting postal history adds a whole new aspect to your journey in our hobby.

Wishing you many enjoyable future days in our hobby. Russ

Welcome to the Forum. Stick around and have some fun. I do have to warn you that the likelihood of something valuable in this type of collection is small, but you probably have lots of nice signatures with great history behind them. Post some of those when you get a chance. Great to have you here!

Hello, I am fairly new to stamp collecting. I never would have thought that 2 years ago I would be into this. I was given 6 albums 8 inches thick full of stamps from all over the globe. I'm learning all there is to know about this hobby. But still an apprentice at best. One question I have is about a 1909 Washington two cent stamp. Not 2 cent, but two cent and it has perf on top, bottom and left side but the right has no perf, it is on blueish gray paper and has a double line watermark and read that most collectors turn their nose up at it. Does the mean it's worthless? Or not worth keeping? I will post a few pics in here. If I can figure out how to do that. Lol Thank you.

Spaceman. Please post an introduction for yourself, and post a new question in the correct forum. Scans of your items would be necessary for advice.
