Horizontal vs vertical. With the large size of the USPS watermark spanning multiple stamps, one must be very precise in terminology since ... The horizontal watermark has vertical-reading individual letters, and the vertical watermark has horizontal-reading individual letters.
I'm still confused, is the watermark I showed in the photo make the stamp not legit, from what I read in the catalog , the Webster stamp was watermarked both vertical and horizontal.

The stamp was watermarked in both the vertical and horizontal direction BUT only the 1899 printing with horizontal watermark was used for the Guam overprinted issue.
I appreciate all the help with deciphering what watermark was used for the Guam overprint. I'm disappointed that I do not have the stamp I thought I had. I'll make some good notes on the stamp and add it to the collection as a forgery.
