Hagner Stocksheets Out Of Business ?

Hello everyone.

I came across an info saying that the manufacturer of the Hagner stocksheets had gone out of business.

It seems that inform-plastics, which produced those sheets in London was absorbed by Duraweld and their new pages doesn't speak of Hagner.

Can someone confirm this ?

I know for Printz, I have some of them and they are quite similar to Hagner.

It's just problematic when a producer disapear : less choices, an incresed risk that the product you like disapears, etc.

I sent an email to to see if they confirm as it seems that they keep the London inform-plastics base. I will tell if they answer

The stock sheets are manufactured in the U.K. by Inform Plastics Ltd under license to BO Hagner of Sweden so here's hoping that Hagner finds another manufacturer.

Yes, I agree, but in their defense, they have been in business for quite some time. I do not know when Hagnar started but I have been getting their sheets here in the USA for over 40 years. One downside of the Hagnar sheets was after a few decades, the adhesive holding the plastic strips to the black (or white) paper got fragile and or failed. You may be a few or many years away from having that problem.

Duraweld just answered to my email : « We do not have the required machinery to produce the Hagner Pages previously produced by inform » and that they will efectively not continue the distribution of Hagner stocksheets.

I stopped buying them due to the delamination of the plastic strips. I do believe they look better than the shiny plastic Varios.

I doubt producing them again would be an issue if someone really wanted to do it. The process cannot be that complicated.

I don't think that they are too hard to make too. As GeoffHa said, they are also made by Prinz under their name and I believe that they are of the same quality level. It's « just » some non-acid cardstock on which a strip of plastic is welded. Not hard but you need the machinery and the business oportunity.

rogdcam said that they were made by Inform-plastics under license to BO Hagner Sweden, which I didn't know. It surprised me as Hagner Sweden is a specialist of photometric instruments, nothing to do with philately or plastic. (It's the same logo, same name so I don't think that I am looking the wrong brand ?).

Inform-plastics was a specialist on plastics welding, I tried to reach them some years ago but never get an answer.
