While doing online research I found out this postcard can have two varieties. One variety is on rough surfaced paper. Can anyone explain too me what that means? My postcard is rough on front and smooth on back. Could this make my postcard that variety? Here is a picture.

It appears to be the Jefferson variety of the Franklin.

The regular 1c green Jefferson card comes in five varieties on a large variety of papers including off white, canary, yellow and shades of buff. There are also two varieties on grayish white (the emergency papers). One variety, Scott UX27C is the normal die and the other variety is Scott UX27D which shows the que as a group of parallel lines (among other distinct characteristics). Card shown is the regular die (and hopefully the picture is cropped). If toned the greyish paper will seem to be more brown; without toning the greyish paper has a hint of green to it.

Although not wise to judge color from a scan your card does appear to be one of the regular issue cards. It is definitely the normal die.

My picture is cropped to fit. Thanks for the information. I still want to know if the paper is supposed to be rough on the front of a normal card. Thanks.
