When I was 11 years old my grandfathers third wife gave me a stamp collection which belonged to her great aunt. This was 34 years ago. The stamp books in the collection are dated in the very early 1900s. Many of the stamps are common stamps but I do have some rather nice rare ones. None have been certified thus far but I hope to do this in the future. I really enjoy stamps and the fascinating history which comes with it. Its a passion.

Thanks for posting your items. I'm looking forward to the nice rare ones.

We have to get you doing a better job on scanning and uploading. If you scan at 600 dpi, crop, rotate and upload, it should improve the look of your items. To me, they all appear out-of-focus and murky looking.

I have to be honest with everyone, I made a mistake when I said I have rare stamps. I do have 3 Canada Scott 37d stamps used, 3 turkey stamps overprinted imprime used, and a 30 cent Switzerland standing helvetia stamp with horizontal lines in the background used. Whether or not these are rare I don't know but they have fair amount of value.

These are some pretty great stamps ! I don't think that they're rare, but you should check the plate number of your One penny red ! The plate number is wrote in the scroll works at the sides of the stamp ! But it's too small to check only with your eyes &

Some plate numbers are rare, like the 77 one and they can have high values !

You should check it out !

Thank you cs for the compliment. I have looked at my penny red and it is not the rare stamp.

Did I say something wrong when I said I have three scott 37d Canada stamps?

No, you can say whatever you want here (well, within reason). I can say that I have a poodle that speaks Latin!

Seriously though, the odds of randomly coming across three 37d's are slim to none. That is why the gentle sarcasm.

How have you determined that they are 37d's? Have they been expertized?

I make this point because more than once people have come here, pronounced they have a scarce or rare stamp, and when there is no pushback, they go to ebay and list them as something they are not.

A genuine 37d for reference:

No problem !

There's not only the 77th plate that is rare, I think.

Could you tell me which plate number it is please ? I'll try to know if it's a rare one or not !

Hey Rogdcam I understand your point and it is well taken I don't plan on selling these stamps on ebay or hipstamp or even on this forum without them being expeprrtized first. When I checked the perforations they came out to 12 1/2 and also 12. Sio I took another 3 cent Canada stamp which resembles this one and when I checked the perforations it only read at 12. My conclusion was they are 37d. If I have spoken without thinking I apologize to you and everyone else.

Ps
Hey cs I can only read an 8 on my stamp because of the cancelation.

Here is three photos of my 3 cent Canadian stamps one isn't as nice.

Plate 77 is the only rare stamp in this group of 1d reds. Plate 225, the last to be issued, is scarcer than the others, but not rare.
