Hello everyone !
What reference do you use to know the plate number of imperforated Penny Reds ? I know that I can't use the plating project site because that only works for Penny Blacks and Penny Reds that have the same plate numbers than Penny Blacks. Please tell me what you use. Thanks,

CS

Thanks ! But because the site doesn't have all the Penny Reds, I can't identify all of them, right ?

You could purchase the 18-volume set "The Essential Guide to the Great Britain Line Engraved 1d and 2d Stars 1840 – 1864" by Kenneth Statham which aids the plater by listing the guidelines, re-entries, repairs, rubs & corner letter positions amongst the many other helpful clues to be found on these stamps.

Click on the links on the left side of the page CS.

For example, click on "1d red, die I, alphabet I" and you'll see scans of the registration sheets appear. Click on the thumbnail and save the large image. You'll need to do this for every plate. Laborious and time consuming, but as has often been said, with advanced philately there are no shortcuts
