Bradley -
I will be going to the Vienna Coin and Stamp show on Saturday morning. If you're going too, that might be a convenient way to get the pages to you.

The staff here removed my cell phone number and sent me an email saying I could not send an email to you. I looked up the policy and they say there is no reason for me to be able to send an email until I have made 50 "quality" posts.
I'm puzzled by this because I'm not trying to sell anything and it is my own personal information, so there is no privacy concern. It's not about you. If we allow people to post email addresses and phone numbers, bots will scour the site constantly to harvest them for illicit purposes and put undue strain on the server that I pay over $300 a month for. We're protecting ourselves, not you. Also, when you let new members email you get bots that sign up and just start spamming other members. I'm sure no one wants that. (Also putting undue strain on the server) |

That's fine. But can I send my email and phone number to staff and ask you to send them to Bradley privately? |

Okay, I'll keep looking elsewhere for someone who might want the pages.

Doug --- Thank you for your on going evolution ,I for one can relate to your journey . I went thru much of what you experienced .
The difference was once I received the CD from Steiner , I decided to start over and leave my Big Blues on the bookcases .

floortrader - I certainly thought about junking the Internationals and starting over. But at that point, I'd been collecting for over 30 years and my sunk costs were enormous -- I probably had 25 or more volumes of International pages. Just the idea of removing that many stamps was daunting, not to mention the problems with potential damage from removing the stamps and the costs of reprinting thousands of pages.
My "mix and match" solution is definitely not pretty, but it works for me.
Did you just throw away your old International pages?
I thought I'd try to give my two and a half boxes of extra pages away here, but that effort was vetoed by the administrators for "security reasons."
Now, I think I'll take them to the next stamp show I attend to see if I can interest any dealers in taking them. Or try other stamp discussion forums, maybe.

Floortrader, thanks for the clarification. That makes perfect sense.
I wonder if you have any thoughts about how to find a good home for my 2 1/2 boxes of surplus Scott International pages? I do not want any money for them, but I hate to just throw them away. |

Doug ---- It would be hard to get rid of them because as you said there are gaps and some pages missing . I used Steiner note book size pages .
Only thing possible is to place your duplicate stamps on these pages and then put them up in a auction lot . |

Thanks, Floortrader. Maybe I'll just toss them, as I don't have time for yet another stamp or coin project. And that would be a massive one. I'd suspect based on what I've seen at shows and auctions -- though I might be wrong -- that an auction of duplicate stamps would bring more if they were neatly organized on stock pages instead of being hinged on old album pages. Especially if you are hinging multiple copies of the duplicate stamps on the same album page (as I often see in old album remnants). At least I hope that's the case (for the sake of my kids when they inherit my collection), as I assiduously remove duplicates from old album pages and put them in stock pages organized by country and CV (and very roughly by issue dates). |

I think you'll do better on ebay with messy old leaves, rather than neat stock-pages, if you don't show everything and leave scope for hopes of buried treasure. |

Thanks, GeoffHa. My efforts years ago to sell off some of my old punk vinyl and vintage 60s comics on ebay convinced me of two things -- (1) this was the best way to maximize your monetary return and (2) it was way too much trouble to be worthwhile. I am not interested in making a little money on the pages, especially if doing so involves a ton of work, which ebay definitely does. I have too many stamp and coin projects undone to spend time on selling anything. My kids will have to do that after I'm gone (which helps with the insane US tax laws involving collectibles). |

I wasn't suggesting you put the blank leaves on ebay, but that stamos on old leaves tend to sell better than stamps removed and puton stock-pages. |

GeoffHa - Sure, and thanks for your suggestion. My impression from looking at stamps shows and auctions is different, but you might well have broader experience than me.
