I have in my collection a Turks & Caicos stamp as the SG 163 item (GV 1922 1/2d). I believe the Scott's cat. no is #45.The Stanley Gibbons catalogue lists 3 colour variants, yellow-green bright green and apple-green. However my stamp is black (see image). I'm keen to hear from anyone as to whether this is a legitimate variant? Thanks for your interest.

Assuming it has the proper watermark and it perfs 14 (which appears to be the case), I'd assume it is a color changeling. Green inks are notoriously unstable.

The 1/2d stamps before and after this issue were also various greens, to correspond to the UPU's international printed matter rate. The farthings were black, so, changeling.

My 2d. Perhaps someone will have another opinion.

Thanks Cjd, that makes sense. I have a similar later 1/2d 'green' which is extremely dark. Thanks for your help.
