I came across these denazified stamps among a collection. But I cant seem to find much information in the Michel or on the internet. Any information of links to more information?
These are what the Germans call "Sächsische Schwärzungen". I cannot find them in the normal Michel catalog but Michel German Spezial have a chapter under "Bundesland Sachsen". You will also get some information if you google "Sächsische Schwärzungen". Similar local overprints were also made in Austria.
This section of the catalog is 9 pages long and does have catalog values. It will be a few days before I can get to my catalog. The catalog does warn that forgeries are plentiful, expertization is necessary and that the catalog values are for expertized items only.
These defaced stamps exploded after 1985 , a lot of them are coming out of Eastern Europe and the ebay sellers from the Baltic have a never ending supply .A lot of fun and games
