Greetings, can anyone provide more information on the stamp pictured below?
Is it a precancel of some sort? Or, perhaps for revenue use? Maybe a special cancellation? Too bad it isn't on piece :-) Thanks to all...

That purple ink is commonly used for revenue cancels in the early 20th century. I am assuming that it may have been used as a tax stamp on a cheque and was cancelled thus.
