Have had this book written in German (I assume) that translates into "the little stamp collector". Written in 1920 I'm assuming by Danner. It is in rough shape and the pages are fragile with at least one with damage. I have nearly thrown it in the trash many times but have always slipped it back into its storage bin and forgotten. Multiple searches have provided nothing. Do any of you think there is any interest to collectors or historical value in keeping it??

In the pocket nr. 61. Westentasche is a cardigan / vest pocket. This is nr. 61 in a series of pocket books.
Verlag is the publisher, The inscription means it was published by G. Danner from Muehlhausen in Thuringia.

The little stamp collector in the vest pocket, probably, should be read as "The little stamp collector" in the series of pocket books.

Here are more editions from this series: https://www.booklooker.de/B%C3%BCch...lag+G+Danner

Thank you.
So other than the mention of stamps in the title this is just a story book and has no real postal value?? Do you know if the title is correct that it is about a boy that collects stamps? Don't spend time looking as it's not an important fact.

Butchie,
This is a delightful book, and as you have found, it is indeed rare. It was originally designed as a simple set of answers to common topics and questions, and so is not of great import, philatelically, but is still a lovely gem.

The German National Library has a copy, and they have actually digitised it so everyone can read it. Well it is in German, and printed in a Fraktur font, so I am perhaps overdoing it with "everyone", especially as I can't read German!

The digitised copy is at this link: https://portal.dnb.de/bookviewer/vi.../n0/mode/1up

The APRL does not have a copy, so if you don't want to retain it, post it to them. I am sure they would be really happy to receive it.

You can see by the title page, which I have reproduced here, that the author is the famous German philatelist Max Ton. The book was published in 1920.

Thank you very much for drawing this to everyone's attention.

Indigo. Thanks for the info. I have sent a message to them asking if they are interested. I appreciate being able to pass it on to someone who can use it. I did many searches and only found one reference. My post on this site. Lol

The author's intro says that the book is first and foremost intended for beginning stamp collectors, so not a story book.

Looking at other titles in the series, this was a series of books that informed about different subjects.
