US C80 is normally tagged with the orange-red taggant. This example shows small amounts of the "green" taggant mixed in with the orange-red. To verify this is not due to taggant transfer from from a "green" tagged stamp, I examined it under magnification. This is pretty clear from the image I have included. C79 exists with a mixture of the two taggants according to Scott Specialized. My Scott catalog is several years old so I do not know if this has been reported.

Can we have a scan of the full stamp, front and back, in normal light?

Upper right corner area is giving off a green partial fingerprint.it seems. Helps with the transfer suggestion.

I saw the tagging in upper right which looks like finger print as you point out. What made me think there was green mixed in some of the areas is the shape of the green in other areas and the density. In other areas like where the word "Air Mail" and 17c are, these appear as nice round ink type spots. I agree probably not so obvious from the magnified image if you are not used to looking at tagging under high magnification.

One of the things I looked for was to see if the green ink spots were in the same visual plane as the orange-red. Under high magnification by adjusting focus you can see if items are in same plane. Same trick works for looking whether an overprint is over or under a cancelation. Could be these are all transfer effects.

I am about to get on a plane, I cost post a normal image later. I will also look more closely at the fingerprints versus ink blobs when I get home at end of week. If it is just taggent transfer it is an interesting example to look at.

Taggant transfer is why you always want to store untagged errors in never used glassines or mounts or other holders.
