Just wanted to share this plate block of 10 of the $5.00 was savings issue on certificate from 1919. Its the only one I have ever seen and plate blocks are unlisted in Durland. Too bad it got stuck on the card.

Mystic has one with 10 + 3 on card for 4250, so $6500+ for 2 x 10? (Retail). Great item! |

Gorgeous item, but I would not use Mystic as a bellweather of actual market value. Their prices are inflated out the wazoo.
That said, it's a one-of-a-kind item, so it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. |

I plan to send a photo to Scotts for possible inclusion in the next US specialized. I didn't see one listed on Mystics website. None are listed on PF website either |

Unlikely that Scott will list because it is used (i.e. on the card). USSS will want the report for the Durland catalog of plate numbers. I only have the 2016 edition but at that time this plate number had not been seen. (for that matter, only 5 or so of the 20 plate numbers had been reported). |

That is an exceptionally nice item. That my friend is a diffendly a keeper. I agree I would think this is a one of a kind item, so it is hard to put a value on it. That said, I think a high valuation is not out if the question. I personally collect war savings stamps and buy us bond and related items. This field is very interesting that crosses several gondas. I beleive it is also a under valued area. Scott's has not upgraded the information in sometime. I personally have found it hard to buy stamps in this field below Scott's full catalog. In most cases of better examples of a given stamp or related item will go for more than Scott's valuation. |

I agree that the high retail value seems logical; it is likely unique and catalogs over $5000 just as singles on document. Be interesting to see what it might bring in a major sale if well described. |
