I recently bought some stamps on ebay but they're attached to cardstock with double sided tape. I would like to remove them and place them on some tan cardstock of my own.

Any ideas how to do this without destroying the stamps?

The stamps sell for about a couple of dollars at most in MNH condition but taping them has ruined them. Why not buy replacements that have not been taped by some moron.

Unfortunately, I would consider these stamps already destroyed. However, if you just want to move them onto other card stock using two sided tape, then just trim behind the stamp very carefully, leaving some of the paper stock still attached. Doing anything else, like trying to slowly pull the tape off will definitely damage the stamp further. Just my thoughts.

If it is not too late by ebay rules and the double sided tape was not mentioned in the description, I would request a refund. Likewise being not as described you have possible other refund methods depending on how you paid.

If that seems like too much work, just buy replacements. Salvaging these will only work until the adhesive bleeds through in a couple of years.

Hey, how about using electrical contact cleaner to release the tape adhesive? Contact cleaner will soften the adhesive on S/A stamps, so it stands to reason that it'll work on the tape as well. After you separate the tape, allow the cleaner to evaporate (just a few seconds and it's dry again), then use talc to neutralize any residue. Those Solomon Islands stamps are gummed, so the gum will provide a partial barrier against any tape adhesive residue from bleeding thru, and anyway, MOST adhesive will remain with the tape.

Please give this a try. If the adhesive is objectionable, perhaps soaking them will dissolve the gum and will take adhesive residue with it.

Those are some good-looking stamps. I can see where you'd want to keep them in as good condition as possible.

A lot of effort to save stamps which will remain ruined. Toss them and start over. Consider it a lesson learned if you can do what I suggested in my first post. If you keep them kept them far away from any stamps you care about.
