They really missed it on this one. Its an inland exchange and not a foreign exchange part perf issue. Super big price difference. Goes to show that a certificate is still only an opinion and not etched in stone .To err is human.....

Their website indicates they will correct clerical errors if asked.

That's really bad. I wonder if there's any system in place at PSE where things get a minimal check before sending back. I assume that the experts' worksheets had the correct catalog number on them but the typing up of certificate got messed up. Sad.

It is really bad. Two primary qualifications for expertizing something are attention to detail and precision. Not a good look. Not to mention that it says that there is likely not much of a QC/QA process with more eyes on the product.

Unless the buyer reads this column in the next couple of weeks, what recourse do they have if they realize or are informed that the listing was inaccurate much later? Does ebay have some extended period for returns if the item is not as described? Given that the cert is only 6 months old, are they likely to send it in for another soon, given that they apparently relied on the cert being accurate while bidding? It's sad to think about what they will discover if they hang onto it for a few years and then get a new cert (hopefully not from PSE) when they go to resell it.

The buyer caught the PSE error and is returning it for a full refund.
