I posted this back in March of 2014:
https://goscf.com/t/36704In a nutshell, it's about Fujitsu's industrial document and flatbed scanner, the fi-5750c that I purchased. It's a high-speed 12x18 scanner that also has an attached duplex document scanner, manufactured from 2004-2007.
A behemoth at approximately 80 pounds, but built to last forever. Only 600dpi optical resolution, but for documents that is easily sufficient.
The original MSRP was $8,995, but used units could be found in 2014 for $300-600.
My unit is still working fine under Windows 11, both using Hamrick VueScan's standalone app, and scanning from within Adobe Photoshop.
Fast forward to current day, and I needed a second large-format scanner in a different location for a nonphilatelic purpose (these aren't exacly portable). So I figured I'd see what the landscape was.
You can still find the 5750c out there, but also the newer fi-6770, for even slightly less than what I paid back in 2014.
It looks identical to the 5750c, as are the specifications, just a newer generation of firmware (if it ain't broke, don't fix it!).
After an aborted purchase from a scammer seller that I am still going through the hurdles to get my money back (generated shipping label with tracking, but never actually took the shipment to the carrier. Probably realized they underquoted shipping by almost an order of magnitude, so instead of shipping or even just canceling and refunding, they're playing games), I found a seller that had several units of the fi-6770. A bit more expensive, but looked to be in better condition and had all accessories.
After some Best-Offer negotiating back and forth, I ended up with one for $290 including shipping and sales tax (almost $100 was the shipping cost, which is about right).
It arrived in a few days via Fed Ex Ground, very well packed. After almost giving myself a hernia getting it onto the table, I set it up and ran it through its paces and it's working perfectly, both flatbed and duplex document scanner.
Why am I mentioning this? Because the same seller has additional units:

Since the seller is now a known commodity with respect to delivery, packing, and condition of the unit, I thought I would pass it on here, in case anyone is looking for a robust large-format scanner.
The unit I got was manufactured in 2016. These are slightly older, manufactured in 2014 and 2011. But these will last a lifetime; as I mentioned, my 5750c manufactured in 2006 is still going strong.
Additionally, since these were enterprise/industrial models, replacement parts are still findable if needed, unlike with consumer models. I have yet to replace or repair anything on my 5750c.
