Query On Long Island Philatelics

Has anyone had recent dealings with or information on one of my favorite dealers, Long Island Philatelics of Smithtown NY (Paul Wiser prop.)? They have regularly attended events in my area (DC-VA-MD) for years, but failed to appear at the annual SPRINGPEX show in April and the annual NAPEX event in June, despite having been listed as a participating dealer in both cases. I have directed inquiry directly to Long Island Philatelics and to the NAPEX bourse organizers, but have received no response. I have been a customer of Paul's for decades and am concerned. I saw him at NOJEX last year, and he seemed fine, but that was the last time I had any contact with him.

I talked with Paul at the last show in Boxborough in 2024. He had advised that due to health reasons he was withdrawing his booth reservation from Boston 2026. He had noted declining health. I did not see him in Boxborough this past show in April (Easter weekend). If he hasn't bought his booth to the October show I would suspect he is not in the best of health to travel. He had mentioned that the family was not really interested in carrying on the show attendance. I liked his materials & made an effort to seek out his booth every show. A loss to the collector for sure.

I last spoke with Paul about 2 months ago. He has significantly reduced his show business because travel has become a challenge and is reducing his business, but you can still reach him and he'll try to get you what you want. Great dealer!

Thanks to all for your input. Paul is scheduled to attend the quarterly stamp bourse in Fairfax VA later this month but, according to the organizer, will decide on his ability to travel closer to the date, as is consistent with what others have heard. If he decides to call it quits on shows I will certainly miss him.

Sigh... age eventually catches up with all of us. I hadn't seen Paul at Chicagopex lately so I hoped nothing was amiss.

I am always sad when my favorite dealers disappear. I think that one of my favorite dealers (Ray Dean in Ohio) is no longer with us. I sent him a letter since I have not seen him in a while and did not hear back from him.
