I collect postcards from the 1933-34 Century of Progress (COP) Worlds Fair, and have been working on a list of cards for the Fair. With a comprehensive list, I can know what I have, and also know what I still need. Many of the postcard sets that were created for the Fair have cards that are numbered consecutively, and I don't know the subjects for some of the numbers. If I knew the subjects, it would make it easier to search ebay and other sources for the cards I need. So, I'm hoping some of you can help fill in some of my gaps.

Specifically, can anyone help me figure out what the subjects are for the numbers in the following series of COP postcards:
Gerson Brothers 341, 366
Illinois Photogravure 3, 5
Regensteiner CP-24
Western Photogravure 41-50, 54, 66, 68, 78, 79

I'm sure you've seen this thread ...
https://goscf.com/t/39874&SearchTerms=exposition

You're looking for some very specific details that probably won't be easy to come by unless you happen to find another collector who is as focused on this expo as you are. I would suggest seeking out Facebook groups and other forums that are dedicated to world's fair material.

Good luck!

@healthy I know this might be off topic, but I feel like saying it here. I love the worlds fairs and everything to do with them, including stamps, postcards, pins etc, and it just so happens that I just spent a lot of money on a Century of Progress World's Fair uniform. Can you tell me, do any of these postacrds in your collection show the uniformed employees?

Thanks, GregAlex.
I had known about, and posted, to the thread you referenced, but started this new thread because that one was several years old, But, just to be safe, I just added a fresh post there to bring people here.

Hmmm, I tried to post to the previous thread, but it popped up here, apparently because the old thread is too old.

Ellie88, I don't recall anything in my collection that specifically shows someone wearing a Fair uniform. But there might be something where a uniformed person is in the background. For example, if you look closely at the attached card, the bus driver has a uniform on. I'm also guessing that there may have been several different uniforms, depending on the person's job. Sound's like a good topic that needs some research.
By the way, because my wife and I design our own album pages, we have digital files of the pages, and were able to easily create flipbooks of them. My Century of Progress albums can be seen in about the middle of this page: https://studioindiana.com/si-postca...ilately.html

I also enjoy postcards of the 1933 fair. The pre-event slogan cancellation on this card lists the dates of the fair as June 1 - November 1, 1933. This is an error. The Exposition was open from May 27 to November 12, 1933. Another thing I think is great about the card is that it appeals to several different areas of collecting: postcards, stamps, expositions, postmarks, cachet artists, FDC, postal slogans, and errors. Can anyone think of any others?

I love that cachet. It also has interest to Presidential collectors, if that is a representation of the Lincoln cabin.

I would not necessarily call it an error that the cancellation says the fair would be open from June 1 - November 1st. Most if not all of the pre-show advertising listed those dates as the official dates for the expo.

You are correct that the grand opening ceremony was on May 27th with our favorite Postmaster General James Farley presiding. It is unclear why the gates opened earlier than the advertised dates (was the first weekend reserved for VIP guests only? Or did construction finish a week earlier than planned?) Or perhaps for marketing reasons it was just easier to say June First through November First. It is also unclear if the ending date was extended 2 weeks to November 12th "by popular demand" or if that was the actual plan all along.

The Chicago Public Library has an enormous collection of World's Fair material (13.25 linear feet) for anyone with a deep interest in learning further https://www.chipublib.org/fa-centur...ess-records/
