Quote: It's called hoarding. Having a lot of something does not necessarily make it hoarding. There is typically the additional facet of whether the material is organized or not. Add: I need to make an update to add some recent additions, but here is a thread featuring much of my collection of National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive items, which many would consider as junk mail (and unstamped to boot) and is nearly impossible to duplicate today unless one is accumulating it as it comes along: https://goscf.com/t/43478And similarly, the Cathy and Dilbert and cards: https://goscf.com/t/71503And yes, I have some duplicates for trade stock hoarded (?) away. |

Yes, I also save any and every envelope with any USPS postage stamp, metered stamp, custom made stamp, or slogan cancel. I also just put them all in a shoe box and every now and then I pull them out and look at them. I rarely, if ever, receive any recent modern commemorative stamps on envelopes.
Wow John! That's an incredible collection of junk mail / letter carrier cards. I'm impressed. |

Quote: It's called hoarding. What is a library but a useless horde of books. Scan them and burn them, especially the books commonly found in all library hordes. All the fiction books are just an environmentally damaging was of paper when first printed. Anyone without the imagination to imagine stories in their head does not deserve to read such wasteful stories, nor do the imaginers need the environmentally wasteful stories. Heck even the internet is a huge waste of energy. Now what smilie should I put here (___)? |

A library full of books equals a pile of used mailing envelopes. OK then. Using that logic or lack thereof we might as well equate automobiles to skateboards. At least they both have wheels! Covers have some words and so do books. I see it all more clearly now. |

Quote: That's because you have taste and discrimination. In a world where people collect and store vast quantities of junk wax baseball cards, there may be some hero who's quietly stashing thousands of used envelopes. Don't knock what some people collect, there are many who ridicule stamp collectors too in case you aren't aware. If it brings happiness to someone to collect used pull tabs off vintage pop cans, so what? |

This one came in the ol' mailbox today... The piece contains advertising from a local small business that looks like it is being run from a residence. I have blanked out the mailing and return addresses for posting here to maintain privacy. The piece is franked with a 2025 Appalachian Trail Forever stamp. A nice addition to my modern covers collection. |

Nice, GitFiddler ! [But why did you leave the DPBC intelligible? the part right of the dash (& including a good part of the barcode), should be obscured in keeping with privacy.] |

I collect advertising covers and since around 1980 I have been saving interesting commercial covers that I receive. These may end up on a dollar cover table someday. They may include interesting cachets or logos, plate number coils, commemorative stamps, or other interesting features. I understand my son may throw them in the dumpster if I don't deal with them first, but they don't take up much space. |
