The stamp is a New Zealand 2 1/2 pence stamp, first issued in 1935. (Scott #189) (Gibbons #560). In checking the watermark, I clearly see the NZ and the star, (Scott wmk 61) (Gibbons wmk 43) and I'm ready to identify the stamp as a Scott #189 (Gibbons 560) rather than the Scott #207 (Gibbons 581) issued in 1942, which bears watermark 253 (Scott), 98 Gibbons. However, am I correct in interpreting that the single watermark (61 Scott), (43 Gibbons) could be seen twice on this commemorative stamp? Also, am I posting in the correct area? I notice that my profile continues to say that I have not posted, though this is my third.

Normally, watermarks are a characteristic of the paper used to print stamps. If a double-width stamp is printed on that same paper (in the same direction) the watermark will appear twice. In the case of your stamp the watermark does appear more than once.
