Smithsonian Institution is a group of museums and education and research centers created by the United States government in 1846 for the increase and diffusion of knowledge. The institution comprises 19 museums and galleries as well as the National Zoological Park, most of which are located in Washington, D.C.

Metropolitan Opera is located at Lincoln Center on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City. The largest classical music organization in North America presents about 18 different operas each season from late September through early June.

United States 1970 American Museum of Natural History Centennial
American Museum of Natural History is located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in New York City. The museum complex comprises 21 interconnected buildings housing 45 permanent exhibition halls, and a planetarium and a library.

I have always admired the architecture of the Sydney Opera House. The building was designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon and was formally opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1973. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. In addition to opera, the site hosts the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Theatre Company, The Australian Ballet, and many other local and international performances of all genres.

Carnegie Hall is located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. It is one of the most prestigious venues in the world for both classical music and popular music.

Cincinnati Music Hall is located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The building, completed in 1878, was designed with a dual purpose: to house musical performances and industrial exhibitions.

Museum of Science and Industry is a private, non-profit science museum located in Jackson Park, Chicago, Illinois. It opened in 1933 during the Century of Progress Exposition. Permanent or special exhibits cover manufacturing, environmental science, chemistry, physics, computers, human body, among other subjects.

Academy of Music is a concert hall and opera house located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The hall was inaugurated in 1857 and is the oldest opera house in the United States that is still used for its original purpose.

Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration is located on Ellis Island off the coast of Liberty State Park in New Jersey. It features exhibits on the immigrant experience through photographs, artifacts, and interactive displays. There are also exhibits covering immigration before and after the Ellis Island era.

National Archives Museum is located north of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The museum features the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights in its Rotunda, along with other historical documents and rotating exhibits.

The Burgtheater is the national theater of Austria in Vienna.
Opened in 1741 by Habsburg Empress Maria Theresa of Austria.
Her son, Emperor Joseph II, called it the "German National Theater" in 1776.
Until the collapse of the Austrian Empire in 1918 it was called the K.K. Hofburgtheater
(Imperial and Royal Court Theatre)
The building was largely destroyed by a US Air Force bombing raid in March 1945
and rebuilt between 1953 and 1955

Bicentenary of Vienna Burgtheater

The Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper) was constructed
between 1861 and 1869
The opening premiere was Don Giovanni, by Mozart, on 25 May 1869.
Emperor Franz Josef and Empress Elisabeth attended.
The building was bombed and set on fire by the US Air Force in March 1945
but rebuilt by 1955.
It was reopened with a performance of Beethoven's Fidelio,
