While sorting through a large pile of precancels, I have been pulling out perfins I find to start a small collection. This one in particular caught my eye because rather than cryptic initials, it was the company's full name--and an instantly recognizable one at that: Jell-O!

I present a Scott 582 from 1924 with a Le Roy, NY precancel and a Jell-O perfin.

The front:

The back:

The back mirrored to show the perfin clearer:

And here is a vintage Jell-O ad from the same year this stamp was issued, and a Jell-O package showing the company's address in Le Roy, NY, confirming the tie to the stamp through its precancel.

This is definitely my favorite perfin that I have found so far.

1925 , not 1924.The first 1.5 stamp was released in March 1925 for the new 1.5 cent third class postage rate effective 4-15-1925.

In punishment, I will in a day or so, show the Jello Perfin on a real Jello mailing.

Edit: fixed typo.

My bad, thank you for the correction. I may have looked too quickly at the catalog. Looking forward to seeing your Jello cover soon!

I love that perfin!

It inspired me to look at my old food-related advertising stamps because I thought I had one for Jell-O, but I actually have a Jell-O knock-off called Home Jell.
