I use Scott Mounts for all of my albums and Scott has been out of most of their mounts for months with NO estimate of restocking I often wonder what's really going at Amos Media and Scott Mounts This Scott Mount Shortage is occuring much too often over the past several years!!!

Check out "Dan the Stamp Man" on ebay. He regularly sells lots of mounts, sometimes unopened. Or Global Stamps. |

In addition to the above, mounts a sold by may sellers. Seller Afewgoodstamps usually has one or two group mount lots closing every Sunday for example.. |

Global stamps has run out much of their stock as well. Most of the ebay sellers are far too expensive, especially with what they want for postage. At least with Scott and Global you can get free postage. |

At BALPEX last weekend I heard from a dealer that there is a mount shortage in the US right now. According to the dealer, all the mounts are made in Germany and the US importers have not restocked because they are waiting to see how the tariffs play out. Obviously I have no idea as to the accuracy of the statement. |

I really have stopped buying, but I have tons of mounts and vintage hinges. My problem now is laziness which could just be a phase... |

Have you looked in the "Accessories" sections of auctions - large lots of mounts often turn up there in the UK, so I presume it's the same elsewhere. |

Fact-of - life , Stamp supplies is getting harder to find . Nobody is building inventory and those dealers who carried inventory are dying off . Less and less are the stamp auction firms getting stocks of supplies from old stamp stores and dealers going out of business. As stated above those ebay sellers who have supplies are raising prices because they can't replace what they are selling . |

Sadly, I have been waiting on black mounts for almost 6 months now. With my push to complete more of the older U.S. with MNH (and sometimes MH) copies, these go into the Scott National, but only with black mounts. I had also been remounting everything through 1934 (or so) because the Showguard mounts I was told to use in the late 1970s/1980s weren't the proper size (or they shrunk). |

I have used Scott's and Hawid's. For myself personally, I am not too impressed with Crystal Mounts. I am not even sure if they are still being produced.
Cheers

Bujutsu,
Don't use Crystal Mounts. If you have stamps in Crystal Mounts, remove them. They will ruin your stamps, if they haven't already. |
