Showcase Your San Francisco 1860-69 Cogwheel Cancellations

Nice collection of cogwheels.

You say the July 30 on-piece is a type 3, but the cancel looks too "square" and the spokes too uneven for a type 3. The type 3 should be round with equal length spokes.

Also type 3 has only 14 spokes and this stamp has 16, and besides type 3 is only known from November 1863 to December 1867, which this piece is not. I assume that is a typo in your writeup, fyi.

Regardless, I am envious of your nice collection.

ZebraMan - You are correct. The piece is marked as a type 2 in my album.
