I'm starting a representative sample of Louis-Eugéne Mouchon's designs. For now, I've compiled the following list of countries with the different designs Mouchon created for each:
Abyssinia (Ethiopia): 2 designs Persia (Iran): 1 design Turkey: 1 design Greece: Olympic Games issue (various designs) Monaco: 2 designs Luxembourg: 2 design Belgium: 4 designs Serbia: 3 designs Guatemala: 1 design Netherland: 2 design Portugal: 3 designs Russia 3 essays France and its colonies: Various designs Did he participate in the designs of any other countries? Is there a complete list of his designs anywhere?

Apparently Russia, but they were never issued. Portugal includes colonies / territories, probably adapted Portuguese designs. The Dutch design: only the portrait, not the border. |

I just added a picture of the Dutch design. His is the engraving of the portrait. The border was designed by D.E.C. Knuttel and engraved by H Raeder. There have been overprints, imperforates and a re-engraving, Edit: Some were overprinted for Nederlands-Indië, Curaçao, and Suriname. |

My idea right now, taking advantage of the fact that I have duplicate copies along with other single copies from countries I don't collect, like Monaco or Luxembourg, but which I bought because they seemed appealing to me... is to create a small representative sample of Mouchon, following the next rules, which I can occasionally break: - All countries - One or two copies of each design, but not all the values in the issue.(If it's the best, rare, or valuable of the issue, all the better...) -Used or Mint, but the design should be as visible as possible, even if it's not centered, has broken teeth, or has beauty issues... basically, fill in gaps and replace when possible. -At most, one or two copies of the designs for colonies, but not all colonies; one or two copies regardless of the colony (if it's rare or valuable, even better). -No overprints, except for the colony examples. -The essays are beyond my level... If I'm satisfied with the result, then I'll consider releasing complete issues of my country collections or the best stamp from each issue for a more complete Mouchon collection. |

I have updated the list of all the works I could find by the engraver and designer Muchon. I see you found some Dutch East Indies overprints. Nice.
The basic Dutch stamp is known as "Bontkraag" (Cuello de Piel), after the fur collar she wears in the image, to identify it among the several Queen Wilhelmina designs. |
