It appears to be a cinderella issued by the Jewish National Fund. The hebrew lettering you see is "Keren Kayemet LeYisrael" which is translated into either the JNF or occasionally KKL in English. The JNF is well known for their efforts to plant trees in Israel.
Now, as to specifically which stamp this is, perhaps someone else can help you, but this at least tells you why you could not locate it in Scotts.
Hope this helps.

There is a JNF Catalog printed by the JNF. But, sadly it is long out of print. I did go to the JNF HQ here in New York some time ago, I was told that there are no plans to reprint it. (They did offer to let me use their copy "on site".) If anyone does have it, please email me. |

Revstamp,
I am selling an up to date Catalogue of the JNF stamps. It was authored by Mr. Ralph Philips and is offered on a CD. I know that by the rules of this forum I am not allowed to post a link to my own commercial offerings until I have 50 posts so until than I won't be anble to promote it further.

shareminator,
The stamp you have belongs to a set issued by the JNF on 1912. The set title is "A Landscape in Palestine". It consists 4 stamps. All of them have the same design and they only differ by colour (Green, Red, Blue, and of course Brown - like the one you have). Imperforate examples are known although the perforated set is much more common.
I hope this helps,

The JNF Stamps have always been of interest to me as my family roots in Israel go back over 200 years. I still have many Cousins in Israel. One was even a Leader of Yad Mordecai during the War for Independence in 1948. |

Had to shake the dust off to scan these ! Designed by German Jewish artist Hermann Struck, who later immigrated to [what was then] Palestine. Londonbus1....usually full of dust ! |

revstampman, That's very impressive. Yad-Mordechai's history is fascinating. This link may be of interest to some. |

Hi there, I believe I've found another JNL stamp, but I'm really unsure. I'm not specifically collecting them, but I tend to hang on to all of the more unusual issues I find. Can you help? N.B. Apologies for the blurriness of the image, its value is 10 |

It looks like a KKL stamp from the 1946 Parachutists series but we'd need a better scan to be certain.
