I am not a big collector of Great Britain but found myself buying some at our recent stamp club auction. Could use your help identifing their Scott # for each.
Perf stamp is a Plate 76 cancelled 74 which I believe is Birkenhead. But not sure of the Scott catalog # - maybe 33? The 3 non-perf stamps not sure where to begin with plating and catalog #s. Thanks for your help

Hi Collector Kent,

The 74 is part of a London duplex device.

The first stamp is indeed Scott #33. All of these identified by plate numbers in the scroll work. The other three are all Scott #3. Plating those are not as easy and will let an expert explain those.

There were dozens of plates used for the printing of the penny reds.

One of the methods for plate identification is the examination of the check letters at the base of the stamp, and their relative positions within the boxes. It's rewarding work, but laborious, and difficult.

Thanks everyone, as you can see the back had a #3 with a number 2.10 on the back. With #3 being the Scott catalog number. What would the 2.10 be in reference to?
