I know there are differences between my 1964 Part One Scott Intl and the newer 4 section version... namely many more spaces...and thicker paper.. But before I Spend $800, and make that leap, I have questions..1) Is there a count on how many more spaces? I know the newer has over 1100 pages and is sold w 4 binders; 2) Some specifics- is there a page, or place, for Buenos Aries steamship issues, in the newer version.. 3) is there an area for the Argentina varnish bars issues in the newer version? 4) More coverage of BOB issues in the newer- like maybe Albania Postage Dues? HELP!!

Wonder if Big Blue Blog 1840 comments on your questions
I have printed Steiner pages on International sized paper to add BoB sets missing from International.
But in general I like Steiner or Specialty pages even with more holes —like seeing what I have vs the Scott catalogue (complete sets or not). |

CRAIG --- Let's back up for a minute , Argentina doesn't have varnish bars maybe you mean Austria ?
On the question about the Ethiopia postage dues ,yes the 4 volume set has the first set these are the 1896 issues ,but it doesn't have the "T" overprints from 1905 or the 1906 set .

CRAIG--- about the very expensive Buenos Aires steamship issues no Scott's International's don't carry them ,most likely the one's you have are fakes {because 99.9% of those out there are fakes }. |

Correct - the Blue albums don't have Buenos Aires, although some of the 19th century versions of the Brown albums do. |

Thank You for the replies! My Vintage Reproductions did have a page for Buenos Aries... I can always produce my own for that ( I am aware there were many fakes.. Still want the page, and will mount with note announcing them as copies). The other question , about Austria Varnish Bar issues ( Mistakenly called them Argentina- ouch!) came up, because the Minkus Supreme Globals do show them, and I have almost complete set. Almost considred buying a reprinted Supreme Global set, but too many negatives. Staying with Scott.. |

The Austria Steiner page with the extra stamp variations is awesome. I get the logic of the adds outside the boxes and it is informative
I have always had the urge to want to edit the page to add more spots. Adding edit capability to printing pages seems like a natural benefit of home page printing. It just needs to be quicker/easier - more like PowerPoint. I have done it and even edited the page maker files but gave up due to time.
I see some—especially Scott International album owners use blank pages for the extras but that loses the relationship of seeing variations side by side |

Nice! In the past, I have made my own pages for the Varnish Bar issues, using early program. The Minkus Supreme Global has spaces for these, in with regular issues. None of the Scotts do. I will probably make my own, or use steiner, for these. To get a Buenos Aires page, the only place is in the old Brown Scotts. Will copy and re-border it.. There may be several things I run into, where the MSG has spaces that I will find a way to facilitate. I considered using the MSG albums, but strongly dislike the way spaces are crowded, the dis-order of countries, and the binders big enough to be a hernia risk. |

I am a believer of each collector doing it their own way .
What works for you may not work for me ,so we need to respect each collectors choices . But it has to be such that after you look at it ,you can understand the pattern . I seen too many collections were collector just layer their stamps with no clue are those just duplicates or are they with better cancels ,are they shade differences ,are they perforation types ,are they different watermarks . Without any written or explaination I view what they are doing is storing duplicates . Drive me nuts . |
