I had worked on my Saar stamps late last year. Got about 1/3 of the way through. Separating the genuine cancels from the fake and favor cancels was a pain. Mint Saar stamps are much easier to deal with.
That's nothing. Check out the earlier issues. There is a reason why the used prices are italicized. I would say that easily 80%+ of cancels on those earlier stamps are not genuine postal usage.
It's a real pain and quite a few people are getting fooled into thinking they are getting a great deal. Always be careful of those German area used stamps between the wars and the period before/after the end of WWII.
