Thematic Group On Freemasonry

I'd like to show you the thematic group on Freemasonry that I've been accumulating over time, and which is starting to take the form of a collection... The group includes stamps specifically related to Freemasonry, along with others that, while not directly related to Freemasonry, do have similar symbolism. It also includes places like the Spanish Escorial series, Freemason monarchs, and a small group of stamps exclusively designed by Freemasons... In addition, there's a wide variety of figures from the American republics... I hope you find it interesting.

That is a huge stretch. You include a crucifix from one of the Spanish "Monasteries" issues. If two things are incompatible, they are Catholicism and freemasonry. Active membership of the freemasons is a grave sin.

The Irish Sword of Light hasn't the slightest connection with freemasonry. It is in the same category as linking a picture of a swordsman wielding a sword to the freemasonry.

A similar thing is the El Escorial monastery that predates the Freemasons by over a century. It is an after-the-fact relation.

By the way, you got the wrong Dutch king on that red stamp. There is no credible evidence William III was a freemason. The big stamp shows William II, he was a freemason.

Don't exaggerate, my dear NSK... The crucifix of Puente de la Reina is very special, since Christ is standing on a goose's leg... Its relationship with Freemasonry and the Camino de Santiago has been extensively studied in Spain. Naturally, Catholicism is opposed to Freemasonry, but Freemasonry is not opposed to Christianity and has found many forms of expression within it; the Christ of Puente la Reina is a beautiful example. Likewise, in the group you will see several Vatican stamps with representations of stonemasons and sculptors, since Freemasonry actively worked for the Vatican.
The Irish sword of light is analogous to the Masonic flame sword, which is why I have included it.
El Escorial was planned as a new Temple of Solomon, hence its inclusion; Masonic details such as the three gates can be seen in the series.
You're right, William III is a mistake... I don't know where I saw it...

In 1942, Serbia under Nazi Germany occupation issued a set of 4 stamps to publicize the Anti-Masonic exhibition held in Belgrade. The stamps designs are anti-Communist and anti-Semites.

A good source for Masonic Philately is https://gwmasonicstampclub.com/, Recently the separate websites of the Masonic Stamp Club or New York, the George Washington Masonic Stamp Club and the ATA Masonic Study Unit merged all three websites into a new GWMSC site which launched last month.

Much of their libraries of covers and newsletters/periodicals have been digitized and are full text searchable. There are even a few periodicals from other clubs. The website still has new features and more material being scanned over the next few months.

Most of the material is U.S. but Worldwide is on the "coming soon" list.
