I have seen endless requests over the years for a suggestion for a UV light and the usual reply is the Lighthouse. I don't think much of that one but I have used it myself for years as it's the best I could find. About a year ago I found one on Amazon principally for Minerals but a couple of stamp collectors raved about it so even though its a bit expensive at $57.00 I decided to try it. This thing knocked my socks off. It is a WONDSUNSON 8 watt UV led. I've thrown away my lighthouse UV. Not really but I have no use for it anymore. Happy collecting.... Geoff

What do you smell when you switch on this light?
I built my own 8 Watt 254nm (and 365nm) lights. When I switch on the uvc lamp, the air immediately produces ozone due to the high Wattage. Does the same happen with your 8 W light?

Your light uses 4 leds, apparently, with a single 3.7V battery as source. This would draw over 2.1 Amperes out of your battery. So you could actually use the light for roughly half an hour..

My hunch is your light is les than 200mW (a single 50 mW uvc led is already stressing the technology), not 8W (Chinese advertising, I fell for it as well in another device I bought). Also the use of a ZWB3 filter in this light is not very clever for philatelic purposes, as it makes every stamp shine very blue-ish. (I use ZWB1 thick glass filters at a cost of losing a part of the uvc light - but they block visible light entirely)

I have the 11 watt unit from UV Tools. It uses 4 D batteries.
