Just sorting out my album - not that these are worth anything
two 2p blue perf 12 with Q-crown watermark. They are the same print size but the perforation cut is different - one is about 25 mm high, the other is 22 mm. Any reason or history?, cheers
That is what line perforation means. There can be more than one line of pins, but commonly, the sheet is perforated line by line and in two directions separately.
With comb perforation each line is perforated on three sides and the sheets moves only in one direction through the perforator. Several lines may be perforated at once.
Another explanation is that one or two sides were cut straight and someone added new perforations. That would reduce the size of the stamp.
