I assume would could collect artifacts from the privatized service if they use anything for pre-payment or proof on whatever is mailed.

If you collect modern German or Dutch stamps, you, already, are doing so.

So, let me understand. If the US privatizes it's postal service this year it becomes a"dead Country".

You hardly need a governing body to apply logic. Do you really?

Interesting discussion. If UPS or Fed EX took over all the services of the USPS, what would that be? Does anyone currently collect UPS or Fed EX barcodes? I've never run into anyone that does. The country may not be "dead" but collecting it might be. I read the story about Denmark too but I would need to find out more about what exactly it means. If it is just barcode stickers and no more stamps, and nothing fun I would probably skip it. (insert discussion about UK labels here ;) )

As you can imagine, people will collect just about anything. A quick scan of ebay and Etsy found a few interesting listings. No idea if any of these have sold. Didn't find any used envelopes or barcodes for sale but fast forward another 50 years and they will be vintage antiques.

It wouldn't surprise me if Amazon gets into the mail delivery business someday. Their trucks drive down my residential street a few times a day, much more often than I see a USPS, FedEx or UPS truck.
