I just ran some quick and dirty numbers using Wizard Coin Supply prices for 25mm Prinz strip mounts (22 strips/package) and the per stamp unit price ranged from 2 cents to 4.25 cents per stamp mounted. Your looking at around 600 to 1275 dollars to mount a 30,000 stamp collection. Not bad for the entertainment value if you calculate it by hours engaged in mounting. Not so good if you look at stamp to mount cost/value ratio using minimum value stamps as a basis. Naturally if you are entering even $1 catalog value and up territory the calculation changes dramatically to being cost favorable.

The cost is spread across many years. If you consider other leisure activities such as golfing, fine wines, fine cigars, eating out, boating, gambling, streaming services, traveling (cruises) etc., there are many choices on how to blow disposable income. Many have little tangible result other than a "good time" let alone a return on the expenses.
