Hi everyone,

I'm looking for help identifying the cachet artist on a Canadian cover mailed by R.D. Miner in the 1990s. The cover has mixed franking (Scott 274 and 929) and is addressed to Elliot Simons in Bellevue, WA, which matches other Miner correspondence.

The wildlife cachet is a detailed pencil drawing and is signed. The signature resembles "Edwin Tuts," but Miner also used several lesser#8209;known illustrators, so I'm hoping to confirm whether anyone recognizes this artist from other Miner covers.

I'd appreciate any insight on:

1. identifying the cachet artist

2. whether Miner ever worked with Edwin Tuts

3. scarcity or value if the attribution is correct

4. how to certify the attribution

Images of the cover and signature are attached.
Thanks for any guidance.

—Thomas

Unfortunately, R.D. Miner is not responding to my inquiry. Anyone else have a suggestion for how to confirm the cachet's artist?

It does like Edwin's Tuts signature to me. I will look around and see if I can confirm.

Dianne,

Thank you for whatever you find. I have compared the cachet signature with the signature on a Tuts painting taken from an online image and they do look very similar. I was hoping for a more authoritative confirmation but it seems that Tuts may not have left a record of his sketches. This cachet may be extremely rare since there also seems to be no record of one ever being offered for sale. Thanks for your interest.
